Forum: feature_films Subject: Are films being removed from the Archive?

I have been noticing that some films that were in the Archive have disappeared. Does anyone know who my doing this? I keep getting 'Content Matches' on You Tube which I always dispute and I always prevail. It is a real pain in the neck to have to respond to them and wait for them to figure out these films are Public Domain films.

Is this the end of Cinema? Obama has yet to sign the statute as the Senate has not voted on it, but I hope he will veto it if it passes. I submitted some original compositions that are Acoustic Piano, and not to brag, but to make a point, I was a Child Prodigy at the Piano and Graduated with Honors from The New England Conservatory. What is taking YT so long to approve my work which is registered with ASCAP and BMI as well. I ran what was the largest Independent Record Company in the World, I can vote at the Grammy's and I totally resent this copyright stuff for my own work especially.

If anybody knows if films are being removed from the archive by some sort of 'Order' can you please let us know?

Thanks!

What are you drinking?
Could you please pour it on your keyboard?

And we also don't want
to read your opinion about Obama, either.

Thank You, and Have A Nice Day.

There is NO need to be rude, which you are. I asked a simple question and get a nasty reply in return. Have you failed to notice that some films that were in the archive no longer are? That is the case. I have zero love for any Politician I just think that SOPA is a load of bull and hope that the President vetoes it.

Thanks so much for your rude response, bad form, just bad form.

Please list some titles that were removed.

Almost always films that are taken down are protected by copyright.

'She Done Him Wrong' was up for a day, 'Two Smart People,' 'An Affair to Remember' and those are just a few I can recall. How do the copyright protected films get into the Archive?

Just curious!

Thanks.

There is no mechanism to prevent anyone in the world from uploading any copyrighted film to the Archive. It is the duty of the staff to remove them.

"An Affair To Remember" will have to be checked at the .gov site, but it is doubtless copyrighted.
